Every year, students visit fish processing units in Ratnagiri and Mumbai, where they observe modern fish
handling, processing, freezing, packaging, and export procedures. They interact with industry experts,
learn about HACCP standards, value-added product development, and quality control measures, and
understand the challenges faced in the seafood industry. These visits play a crucial role in skill
development, entrepreneurship motivation, and career orientation for students pursuing fisheries and
food processing studies.
Fisheries Engineering Visit:
Every year, students visit fishing harbor, cruising on fishing vessel at Ratnagiri and Mumbai sea, where
they get practical exposure of fishing activities, post-harvest management of fish and aquatic products,
navigational equipments used onboard the fishing vessel.
Students also get chance to interact with industry personal, exhibitions, learn about innovations in the
fishing technology, refrigeration engineering etc. These visits play a crucial role to make students
aware about fisheries business, to get skill oriented knowledge, motivation for entrepreneurship
development in fishing industry.
